The Great Scot 19th annual curling bonspiel and golf tournament is ready to go Saturday Sept 17 and Sunday Sept 18.

Not only is it a tradition of fun put on by the Highwood Curling Club but it's also a fundraiser for the High River United Way Partnership.

Manager of Community Services for United Way, Shelly Koot says it's going to be a lot of fun.

"You need four people on a team and it's $500 for the whole weekend.  And it's actually a great deal, includes dinners and there's a little get together at the curling club on Saturday night.  It sounds like it's going to be really fun."

Koot says a portion of the entry fee is donated to the United Way and stresses that all the money raises is given to local charities.

"They completely stay here, 100% of what we raise stays in town. Some of the local agencies we've donated our money too are the Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, SNAPS, Literacy for Life, Rowan House, Food for Thought, FFAS and No Kid Kids Go Hungry."

The curling bonspiel runs Sept 17 and the golf tournament goes Sept 18.
