It's the homestretch for the Habitat for Humanity duplex build in High River, but the race is on to get it finished before Christmas.

Chairperson for the Foothills Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Marilyn Boake, says they're in need of many volunteers to help out and ensure the two families can move in before the holidays.

"There's obviously a significant amount of interior work that has to happen and so for us," she says. "The more volunteers we can get on site, then we can still stick to our December move-in period."

Boake says they fell behind a bit with the construction in the summer months, but she hopes it will pick up again this month.

"Now that the fall is here and there's significant progress on the house, there's all kinds of volunteer opportunities," she says. "And you don't have to volunteer on a regular basis, you can show up once for a build day or you can set yourself up for a schedule."
