A High River home has received designation as a Municipal Historic Resource.

The home is located at 131 2 Avenue Southeast and is known as the Hamilton House.

A report to town council in January said the heritage value of the home lies in its association with the Hamilton family; and for its late 1880’s design with decorative detailing and traditional construction.

The notice of intention to designate was sent to the property owner and no objections were received within the 60 day period that followed.

Designation as a municipal historic resource gives the home owners access to provincial funding opportunities to assist with some restoration or preservation work subject to appropriate approvals.
