A good few days of weather has helped producers get the crop off.

Jeff Porter, the Ag Fieldman for the Foothills MD says harvest in the area is nearing the halfway mark.

"This year I would say is a little more drawn out than normal just because of the moisture situation that we keep having," he says. "It seems every week we get some showers and everybody just gets going and then they're shut down again."

He says some of the crops aren't maturing as quickly as they normally would because there hasn't been a stretch of hot, dry weather and now he says there's some tillering issues in grain and crops having to be swathed where they usually are taken standing.

He says this year the canola really seems to be hanging on and a lot of producers are having to swath it down to get it to start drying out.
