The High River Rec-Plex had to be evacuated for about half an hour Monday, July 17, thanks to the heat.

Apparently, equipment in the one of the utility rooms had to work extra hard because of the heat and that set off the heat detectors, which triggered the alarms leading to the building being evacuated around 3 o'clock.

Once the problem was discovered, and they determined there was no danger, everyone was let back in after about 30 minutes.

Maintenance crews are busy working on options and adding additional ventilation to the area to avoid the same problems happening again.
