Local media got a tour of the new Cancer Care Clinic under construction at the High River Hospital Tuesday.

The multi-million dollar facility has already booked their first patient for Monday, September 19.

Nichole Korol, the hospital's Acute Care and Site Manager says staff, doctors, nurses and even patients have been able to chip in their two cents on the new clinics design.

"We've met at least once a month for the last 18 months, and then every second week now for the last few months."

She says it's a huge difference seeing the clinic go from the drawing board, to an actual structure where you can walk through the rooms and see what's going to go where.

Korol, says they couldn't have done it without High Riverites and others stepping up with their donations.

"If you think about it, we have raised over $1.6 million, in a small community, in a depressed economy, post flood. It's unbelievable the support from the community. Unbelievable! We couldn't have asked for more."

The hospital will open the doors for a community open house at the new clinic on Friday, September 23.
