The Town of High River will begin enforcing their bylaws around advertising signs a little more strictly in the weeks ahead.

Town Planner Sarah Peck spoke at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Thursday, January 24 at the Highwood Golf & Country Club, and says the responsibility for informing businesses about what they can and can't do about the signs really falls to the Town.

"We've noticed that there's signs going up around the community without development permits. That's a good sign, that's a good indication to us that we haven't done an adequate job informing the business community of when they need a development permit and how to find that information."

Peck says she'll start phoning businesses over the next few days, informing them about the bylaws and working on getting them in line with what's acceptable and what's prohibited.

Peck says the Town's website is a great resource for both businesses and residents to find out about the Town's current slate of bylaws.
