High River and great volunteers go hand-in-hand so the Town is hoping a few of them will come forward to help fill vacancies on several boards and committees.

Being involved is one way residents can make a difference in the community and a way for them to share their knowledge, experience and ideas with the Town.

Kara Rusk, manager of legislative services says there are some interesting boards you can volunteer to take part in.

"One that I like to highlight is our community vitality advisory committee," said Rusk. "This committee is responsible for the distribution of funds for projects and events within the community."

It is one of the boards that members have a chance to make a real impact on the town.

Council will appoint the new board members after the municipal election in October.

Term length can range from one to three years depending on the vacancy that is open.

Time commitments vary depending on the board and committee.  For example, some boards and committees only meet when required, whereas others meet on a monthly basis for approximately three to four hours.

If you are interested in applying, all board and committee descriptions, governing bylaws and application forms can be found under the Town Hall then Boards & Committees menu.

Applications will be accepted and reviewed throughout July and August and appointments will be made at the Town’s Annual Organizational Meeting on October 23, 2017 when the new council is sworn in.

Community Vitality Advisory Committee (3 positions)
