Get ready for Centre Street in High River to be close for a couple of days this week.

The Town will close it from Macleod Trail by Sobeys all the way to High Country drive starting at 10 p.m., Wednesday, June 27 and it'll stay closed until 6 a.m., Friday, June 29.

The road's being closed to accommodate both the flood gate at the bridge and the pavement tie in's for the Lineham Canal Bridge.

A good alternate is 498th Avenue, which can be accessed off both Highway 2 and 2A, or off 5th Street South East or 20th Street North East.

While 3rd Avenue remains open for access to downtown High River.

The Town says emergency response times won't be affected because of the closure and the pedestrian pathways won't be affected either.

When the Centre Street Bridge re-opens Friday, traffic will be open to one lane of alternating traffic using a temporary signal light.

Once the Lineham paving tie in is complete, that bridge will be open for use.
