The Town of High River has welcomed their new Manager of Emergency Management and Protective Services.

Peter Genereux comes to the Town after a similar career with Alberta Health Services.

He says he has experience with flooding issues, particularly the 2013 flood.

"I did emergency management with AHS, so I have been involved with it that way. So from that end of it I'm happy to be in this community. I'm really happy with sort of, where things have gone and the changes and the growth.

He says he'll also be working to "beef up" the Town's Bylaw Services.

He says he wants to make sure it's fully staffed, but also do a comprehensive review of the Town's bylaws to bring them all up to modern standards and get rid of one's that are either outdated or don't match up with the Town's current vision.
