The High River Skating Club hosted their annual Spring Carnival Saturday, March 16 at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

President of the High River Skating Club, Marie Corns says music is always a key feature of the carnival but this year they wanted to try something a little different with a Wizard Of Oz theme.

"More of an inter-generational feel, because everyone is kind of familiar with the story of The Wizard Of Oz. So we wanted to do more of a story book, where we worked through a story rather than just sort of snippets of songs."

Corns says you never know what might stick, and for some skating could be a life long sport.

"I'd like to welcome anyone to come out and try a season at the High River Skating Club. It's a very inclusive club and there's lots of room for skaters to develope their skills and grow."

Corns said the event was a success.

"Oh the event was a smashing success, it was really, really great."
