The 30th anniversary of the High River Spring Ball was Saturday, March 9.

Aurora Steel, and Nicholas Locken were chosen as the Queen and King respectively.

Locken said some of the minor skills taught over the 8 weeks proved to be the most useful.

"I didn't think could be useful but it actually can be is probably the formal dining, and how to actually use everything. But you know if you're going for a job interview with a future boss, and he wants to take you out somewhere nice to eat, he or she I should say. You have to know how to be formal."

Both Steel, and Locken say the program was a huge confidence boost.

"We were out on the dance floor and we were dancing and dressed up and everything, and it's just like wow this is amazing."

Locken says first impressions are very important in the selection process for King and Queen.

"The biggest thing is how you present yourself during the interviews and the mix 'n' mingle. There's first impressions that the judges score on, the biggest thing is first impressions."
