Residents of The Town of High River stepped up yet again and raised over $3500 for the Canadian Tire Jump Start program on Saturday afternoon.

Jump Start is more than just about getting kids active it's giving kids from families in financial need the same chance to participate in activities as their friends and other kids.

Jump Start is a national charity with a focus on local communities and all of the funds raised here, stay here.

Dealer's wife and part owner of the High River Canadian Tire Kirsti French says Jump Start is a national charity run that has a focus on local communities and all of the funds raised here, stay here.

"This money goes directly to the kids in High River to help put them in organized sports. Anywhere if they need to come into the store and get equipment from soccer equipment, hockey equipment, figure skates, anything sport-related, or it can go towards registration fees."

Some sports, sports equipment and other activities are expensive for some families in today's economy so the Jump Start program is geared to provide financial assistance to those who need it.

Town staff together with the High River RCMP, the High River Fire Department and High River EMS Services held a Check Stop on Centre street by 3rd and 4th Avenues.
