If you take a drive around High River at night lately, you may find yourself pretty dazzled by the brilliant lighting displays. That must mean that the "Light up High River" Christmas decoration contest is in full swing.

Submissions were accepted at the end of November, and Votes have been coming in since December first. The winners will be chosen this week, and from the look of some of the houses, the competition is fierce this year. With $250 in cash prizes up for grabs, the results are bound to be exciting.

"You can go to choosehighriver.ca, just follow the links down to the "Light Up High River" contest. Get that list and do a circle tour of town."

Organizer, Ted Dawson, says that its easy to get involved.

"Monday is the last day that folks can take the tour and go back and cast their ballots at www.choosehighriver.ca"

The winners will be here and on AM 1140 and 99.7 Sun Country on December 20th.

Ted is already preparing for next year, and has high hopes that now that the ball is rolling, we'll see a much higher participation in what is surely to be a lot of fun and a great way to get involved in the community.

"It's something that folks can do as a family and they can do it for free. They can go out and enjoy having a look at what other folks have done, and make an enjoyable evening out of it."
