Motorcyclists will make their way through the Foothills in support of front line personnel.

This Saturday the fourth annual Honour Ride will make it's way down from Calgary through areas in the Foothills in recognition of police officers, peace officers, fire fighters, EMS, and military.

The Honour Ride was established by the Blue Knights Calgary chapter, a law enforcement motorcycle club, in 2012.

John Couture, chairman of the Honour Ride, says this ride is something he holds close to his heart.

"When you see front line personnel, your bothers and sisters going out there, and PTSD is a big thing today and some of them are going to be suffering from that and they're going to need help and if we can help in any way to stop some of it or to help in any way at all, that's what we're there to do."

The motorcycle poker run will raise funds for a variety of groups like Diakonos Retreat Society, Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, Calgary Military Resource Centre, and the Veteran’s Food Bank.

Couture says the ride isn't limited to those involved with front line services and that anyone can take part.

He says the route is about 180 kilometres.

"We're leaving from the Rona on Southland and we travel out to Redwood Meadows Fire Station, and then we travel to Motorrad which is in Turner Valley. Each one of those places you're going to pick up a poker card. The last stop is at Aldersyde then back out on to Macleod Trail."

Registration for the ride is 8:00 am at the parking lot at RONA Home and Garden Centre on Macleod Trail South, then participants start their poker ride at 10:00 a.m. then the day wraps up back at the starting point with a BBQ, 50/50 draw, and a live auction.
