Do you know a student that makes a difference in your community and feel they should be acknowledged for it? Well now you can with the province's 16th Annual Great Kids Award.

The awards are for children aged 5-18 and are divided into four different age brackets.

Public Affairs Officer, Laura Fedoriw says the nomination process can recognize students for a number of positive impacts he or she has in a community.

"These are kids ages 5-18 who've done everything from organizing fundraising, to showing leadership against bullying, some of them have even delivered presentations to inspire others to raise money for causes," he says.

Fedoriw says the nomination process is easy to do.

"All they have to is write a description of why they think the young person should be nominated and also provide two letters of support, the criteria that we use to nominate the winners are looking at their academic contribution, organizing fundraiser's or special projects any combination of those."

There's only a couple of weeks to get a nomination in for the Great Kids Award and Fedoriw says even if nominees don't come away with any hardware they'll be recognized for their efforts.

"All nominees will receive a certificate signed by the Minister of Human Services and award winners will receive a trophy, prize pack and be invited to a special awards ceremony that's sponsored by the Fantasyland Hotel."
