It's a problem every year and the Town of High River is again asking anglers and those using Emerson Lake to please not dump garbage, fishing hooks or fishing line in and around the lake.

Town of High River Parks Supervisor, Tannas Webb, says, "hooks and fishing line can provide a serious hazard to pets, wildlife, children, and people in general, and keeping it clean is of utmost importance."

Webb says, "the Alberta Fish and Game officers do patrol the area and can issue fines to people littering in the area".

Locals can also contact the RAP program (Report-a-Poacher) by calling 1-800-642-3800.

The line is open 24/7.

There are also garbage cans located around the lake.
