A big boost for the Foothills Country Hospice.

They were the recipients of a 100 Women Who Care Foothills donation, after hospice volunteer and 100 Women member Jill Jones nominated them.

100 Women Who Care Foothills Founder, Karen Love, says it was a milestone donation.

"This is our biggest donation to date, so we have $5,100 which means we currently have 51 ladies who donated this month. Out of the three charities that were nominated, we chose to donate to the Foothills Country Hospice, it's such an amazing charity, we are so excited."

This is the second time the 100 Women Who Care have gifted to hospice.

"This our second, they were actually our very first when we started and they got $2,400 if I remember correctly, and now we're up to $5,100."

Hospice Executive Director Dawn Elliott, says the donation will go a long way to renovating patient rooms this Spring.

"We need to paint the walls, we also need to update some of the furniture like the night tables and recliners in patient rooms."

She thanks the 100 Women Who Care for their continued generosity.

"We receive 60 per cent of our funding from Alberta Health Services, and we need to make up $1.2 million to keep our facility running. It's through the good will of 100 Women Who Care and other corporations and groups who help us, and it makes a huge difference."

The Next 100 Women Who Care Meeting goes Thursday, May 3 at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club starting at 7 p.m.
