Yet another prediction from meteorologists calls for a scorching summer in the Foothills.

A dry winter and spring shows weather trends continuing into the warmest months of the year.

Senior Meteorologist at AccuWeather Brett Anderson says there will be drought conditions at times during July and August.

"I think we can expect a really hot summer based on what we've been seeing so far during the winter and into the spring. Soil is very dry, it's been very warm during much of the time," he says. "Typically when we see a very warm dry spring that usually leads to a very hot summer."

When temperatures get above higher than normal in the summer and that can lead to some severe weather ranging from thunderstorms to tornadoes and Anderson says there's enough heat coming for mother nature to make some noise.

"If we just get enough humidity in there, the potential for strong severe weather will be there. When we get just the right set-up we certainly could see thunderstorms that are very nasty just because of available heat gives those thunderstorms that much more energy."

Anderson says there will probably be a few records broken for day time highs in the region.

"I think we're going to see our fair share of many more than usual days above 30 during those two months, it's too early to say whether we're going to get up near 35 or not but I think we're going to see a much higher number of days above 30 and above 32 as well."
