Residents of High River are being asked to dig a little deeper when asking others how they're doing.

Caitland Asmundson brought town council up to speed Monday on a new initiative called "How's Your Five?"

"The idea behind How's Your Five is to open up the conversation with your neighbours and community about how you're doing," she says. "So the five are Work, Eat, Sleep, Play and Love and those five areas of your life basically encompass the majority of your emotional and social and mental well being."

The idea came from Joplin Missouri after people there suffered through a disastrous tornado that ripped through the community.

Just like High River after the flood people would ask 'how are you doing', usually followed by how's your house but it's hoped How's Your Five will spur people to go a bit further.

how's Your Five is a new initiative in the community coming from the Social Sustainability Collective which is a collective of all the different local service providers and the idea behind it is to have deeper, more meaningful conversations with your neighbours and community members," Asmunson says.

It'll launch later this month.
