We all know what a library is, but at Oilfields School, they do libraries a little bit different.

Nadine Russell, Library Tech at the High School, and teacher Conor Hart, have been bringing the concept of the "Human Library" to the Foothills.

Russell and Hart put together the schools first Human Library last year with huge success.

"We had 28 amazing speakers come in, extraordinary people who live interesting lives or have extraordinary stories or they do really creative jobs. It was incredible."

The concept, is that instead of taking out a book, students have access instead to a number of speakers that will engage with small groups of students to tell their story and connect personally.

This allows the students to connect socially with unique people from all walks of life, and after last years success, this year is shaping up to be even bigger, and Russell says it's something kids really don't get.

"I don't feel our children engage enough. They don't have that capacity to question, get to know, ask a story and not make a judgement first. There's a lot of things our children don't have, and one of those things is that connection with our elders."

Russell says this years human library will span across 4 different days in March and April, bringing the profound stories of over 100 speakers to high school students across the foothills.
