If you thought it's been a cold winter so far, you may not want to read the rest of this.

It's about to get a whole lot colder as a big dump of Arctic Air is coming our way starting Saturday, February 2.

Meteorologist with Environment Canada Kyle Fourgere, says however, despite what your might hear, it's not a "polar vortex."

"The "Polar Vortex" is a term that kind of caught on. It's not really used appropriately in most cases. Kind of an upper pattern that typically hangs out around the North Pole, with this really cold arctic air mass below it. What we're seeing is a polar front come down with this arctic air mass behind. It's not really the "Polar Vortex" per se."

Fourgere says we'll definitely see a change from above average temperatures to low's approaching -30 and high's close to -25 through to the middle of next week.

He says however it won't last too long as it will start to warm up to more average temperatures towards the end of the next week.
