The Foothills School Division has determined who will serve as their ward one trustee.

The FSD has announced that Jack Molyneux will sit as their Ward One Trustee.

This comes after much deliberation following their by-election.

Molyneux lost 43-60 to Jeannine Tucker back in October.

Since Tucker was disqualified two days prior, she was not awarded the victory.

After the Local Authorities Elections Act and Municipal Affairs were unable to provide a solution to the conundrum, the FSD took the matter to the courts.

Now, after receiving a signed consent order from Madam Justice Dilts, Ward One will have a trustee representing them for the first time since October 2017.

The Foothills School Division provided a statement on the ruling from Board Chair Larry Albrecht:

"These were exceptional circumstances and we are pleased with the decision of Justice Dilts. We are thankful for the patience and understanding of our school community as we sought and received clarification from the Court."

It is currently unknown when exactly Molyneux will be sworn in.
