Notice a jump at the pumps New Years Day?

It won't be going away anytime soon.

Monday, January 1, Alberta's NDP Government brought in the second phase of its carbon tax, which amounts to a permanent increase of approximately two cents a litre, and three cents a lite for diesel.

The Provincial carbon tax increased by 50 per cent monday, with the carbon levy growing from $20 to $30 a tonne.

This also means higher home bills for Albertans, which will rise by approximately $150/year for the average household.

Alberta now has one of the highest carbon taxes in Canada.
