Okotoks will play house for a handful of special guests this summer.

Japanese students will make Okotoks home as they learn about new cultures and the english language for two and a half weeks in July.

Home Stay & Program Coordinator for Muskoka Language International Christin Lindved-Jensen says they experience a lot during their stay in the Foothills.

"There's 17 of them, 14 girls and three boys and they're going to be here from July 10th to the 21st and our programs run out of the Foothills Centennial Centre so they'll be doing ESL classes in the morning on weekdays. Then local tours in the afternoon and then they're with home stay families in the evenings and weekends," she says.

Lindved-Jensen says anyone can give her a call at 403-669-6221 to inquire on billeting students.

"Any families or individuals who are just generally hospitable and are willing and able to transport the students to their classes in the mornings and pick them up in afternoons and show them the sites on the weekend are eligible to be billets."

Lindved-Jensen says they've been hosting Japanese students for the past ten years.

"We've had kids as young as six years old coming from Japan and staying in Okotoks. Muskoka Language International chooses towns across Canada that are renowned for hospitality, charm and safety so Okotoks definitely fits that mould."

This will be second straight year a group of kids has come from the Chiba District, located near Japan's east coast.
