Rain, at times heavy, is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

An upper low pressure system over the northwest states is producing showers and occasional thunderstorms. The showers and thunderstorms will last through most of the day. Local rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 mm are expected by this evening.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
