Teams in High River will be working to improve their health over the next six weeks.

Wednesday night was the kick off of the Community Wellness Challenge where teams of four will be competing for prizes.

Fawna Bews with Our High River says, the goal is to boost the town's overall wellness.

"If each person does their part at being healthier, it makes us all healthier as a group, so it's just getting better together."

She says, teams compete by completing wellness activities in the participant guidebook.

"It's a point earning, self reported points system that people can earn for exercising, drinking water, and mindfulness activites."

She says, they have over 10 teams registered.

"In the past, I know they've had up to 100 people participating, so hopefully we'll surpass that number."

Teams can still register throughout the challenge, and Bews says, they'll just have to play catch up on earning their points.

You can stop by the Library to pick up your registration package.

The challenge started on Sunday, April 8 and runs until May 19.
