Five sisters are teaming up with their father to complete a 100 kilometre Kidney March starting today, Sept. 7th with the starting point in Millarville.

Well known Kidney Sisters, Sara Hill and Nancy Ratray, say this year is a different for them as two more members of their family join them in the movement.

"Four of us have marched, this will be our second year, but this year it's special for us because our eldest sister is joining us, and also our dad, who received a kidney last year," they said.

Ratray and Hill say they're ready for the challenge as they work to raise funds and awareness for the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

"We'll end at Canada Olympic Park on Sunday afternoon, so it's a hundred kilometres over three days," they said.

This is the sister's second year in the Kidney March, and since 2010, the march has raised more than six million dollars in the fight against kidney disease.

The Kidney Sisters say they are very close to their goal of fundraising, and hope to exceed the goal as they work toward the ending point.

"I looked yesterday on the main site and we're at 99 per cent of our goal, so it would be really nice to hit that," they said.

If interested in donating to the cause, you can visit www.kidneymarch.ca, and choose a general donation, a team, or an individual. Donations will be accepted until the end of October.
