The Foothills Regional Landfill is looking for RFP's from contractors to install a new scale house.

They're looking for a contractor who can remove the old scale house, disconnect the utilities, then put the new one in place and reconnect the utilities.

Joe Angevine, landfill manager, says the current scale house doesn't make the cut anymore.

"The existing scale house is about 25-years-old, all of the windows leak, the whole building is kind of actually shifting on the ground because it was just basically placed on top of black dirt, and we have a very small gap left between the building and our outbound scale."

The new building will have larger drive-through windows and a few energy efficient upgrades. It will also be placed on pilings so it doesn't shift in the future.

Angevine says they actually started the process for RFP's last year.

"We posted a similar RFP last year but it was just too late in the season by the time we had it all together and had all the engineering done for the pilings and stuff like that so we had people bid some bits and pieces of the job but we didn't feel like we could really pull it all together before the weather got cold so we basically pushed it back to this year."

The hope is to have the building ready by the end of August so installation will take place in early September.

The deadline to submit RFP's is June 23.
