If you want new ways to use trash and recyclables, look no further than the High River Library.

Art-Inspirer Dianne Put says she'll be teaching monthly classes at the library, starting April 21 and 23 with My Art Is Bagged.

"So there's "My Art is Bagged", which is making little books out of lunch bags and designer bits and fobs and stuff that ends up in the miscellaneous junk drawer in your kitchen. The "Trash to TaDa!" is using flyers, recycled papers, hand-stitching techniques, as well as some painting as well."

Other classes will include Art on the Patio, Art Walk, and My Art is Board. Put says the classes will be based on every-day items.

"Quite often we're out and about, and I find bits and pieces that just tie-in and are really great expressions of daily life. And it doesn't seem fair to reject them because they don't have archives or a fancy name on them."

She says the classes are open to all levels.

"What I hand out are guidelines, not rules. It's more to inspire each person that comes to play. And to give them tips and tricks whether that's absolute beginner or whether they've been painting for a long time or doing art for a long time and just want to stretch out into doing a little more free form."

Put says art doesn't have to be about high end materials, it just has to be fun to do. Her first class will focus on turning old paper bags and other odds and ends into something beautiful. Classes are about 1.5 hours long, $10 each, and pre-registration is appreciated.
