The Town of High River announced Thursday, August 24th that $42,438.60 has been raised to help fund the Canada 150 Legacy Project which will pave the southwest portion of the Happy Trails.

Three large donations have helped with the total as Western Financial Group and Canadian Tire chipped in $10,000 each and the High River Health Foundation adding another $15,000.

Fundraising for the project is being led by the Canada 150 Community Leaders Duncan Scott, Tammy Beach and Courtney Berlingette with a goal of $150,000.

Donations of any amount are gratefully accepted, however $150 will pave one metre and $1500 will pave 10 metres.

Community Leader Tammy Beach says she has a couple of ideas to get the rest of the money together.

"I think what would be really cool is if neighbourhoods donated as a neighbourhood," said Beach. "Fifteen houses at 10 dollars apiece then that's $150 and that is a metre paved.

Beach added friends, family members and even co-workers could get together to chip in to get to $150.

There will be some fundraising teams out at the Registration Roundup on Sept. 7th and at the Balloon Festival Sept. 27 to Oct. 1.

You can also donate at the Town Office, the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Centre and online.
