Finance Minister Joe Ceci says Alberta's deficit will hit $10.3 billion during 2017-18 with total spending nearly $45-billion.

The budget does not include any new taxes, tax increases or cuts to programs.

Ceci talked about some of the government's accomplishments in merging or doing away with government agencies, holding the line on salaries
and signing a new deal with doctors in the province.

The small business tax rate will be cut by one-third and new tax credits for small and medium sized businesses are aimed at spurring diversification and growth..

Many parts of the budget had already been announced such as a 25-per cent reduction in school fees as the government moves to eliminate them eventually and an increase in the number of crown prosecutors and court clerks.

The Wildrose party says the budget is a "balance sheet meltdown" and mortgages the province's future as it racks up $71-billion in debt by 2019-20.
