Local support for Dave Proctor has been phenomenal since he had to stop his cross Canada journey back in July due to a back injury.

Tanya Ryan says although the smoky air has presented quite a challenge, she still has high hopes of hitting her goals for the month.

"150 kilometres in August, and my goal is to raise $2500 in the month of August. I've being doing an average of five kilometres a day, the smoke has slowed me down a little bit, but i'm hoping I can still come in strong at the end," she said.

Ryan says she's doing her part to help Dave log the rest of his kilometres in support of the cause.

"I thought maybe I can help him out, and maybe other people can help him out. I'd just like to see people get behind, especially for someone local, and fuel the cause forward. Because if one person can't do it alone, maybe they shouldn't have to," she said.

Proctor had to discontinue his run in Winnipeg last month, after consulting with his medical team and suffering a back injury.

Proctor also encourages Canadians to help him finish, by logging their miles and submitting them to the Outrun Rare Virtual Run.
