The Celebrity Server Fundraiser for the United Way was a huge success Friday, October 14, at Boston Pizza in High River.

United Way Chairperson Kelly Selmser says they did very well.

"We had a Heroes lunch and some of the local businesses had raised money for us, between that and the dinner we are estimating around six thousand dollars which is up from last year surprisingly due to the economy."

Among the celebrities on hand were Mantracker Terry Grant, Quade Kormos and Liam Hall from the High River Flyers, Don Moore from High River Town Council and our very own Jody Seeley and Charlie Brown.

Selmser says local businesses really stepped up.

"We did really well and some of the local businesses Coco Lux and Western Financial raised quite a lot of money for us which was amazing."

All the money raised stays in High River and will go to help support and further the cause of many worthwhile agencies initiatives and programs.

"Last year we had $75,000 to put back into the community, some of the recipients are SNAPS, Food for Thought, Rowan House and FFAS." Said Selmser.
