Firefighters and equipment from several Foothills fire departments are either at the scene or on their way to High Level to help fight the massive wildfire threatening the northern Alberta town.

The High River Fire Department sent three firefighters along with a fire truck north.

They were joined by the Foothills County Fire Department, who sent a fire truck, as did the Turner Valley and Black Diamond Fire Departments who sent four firefighters a fire truck and a bush buggy.

It's not the first time local fire departments have pitched in, as they sent equipment and personnel north in 2017 to help fight the Fort McMurray wildfire.
