The weather may have been cold and damp but that didn't stop the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from collecting more than 8,000 pounds of food for the High River Food Bank.

Food Drive Chairperson, Cathy Anderson, says everything raised is staying in the area.

"All of the food is donated to the local High River food bank, which is with the Salvation Army, and so it will go directly to families and individuals here in the High River area."

All the food items are non-perishable and can be used to make meals for families in need.

The Salvation Army participates in three major food drives each year, with the next one taking place in Spring 2019.
