The local area has it's own little golden girl.

Ten-year-old Alainna Clarke of Dewinton will be strutting down the gold carpet later this month at Flames Central at the premiere of a documentary on children who've had cancer.

She's had to come through a lot.

"When I was 15 months old I was diagnosed with cancer, myofybrosarcoma, in my neck," she says.

Her mom Amanda, who's from High River said she went through a month of treatments.

"She went through 15 months of chemotherapy, the tumour that was in her neck was removed about 6 months in and then that was followed up by about her 12 months of chemo after that," she says.

Amanda Clarke says it all started off innocently enough when Alainna had what she thought was a throat infection and got "the shock of a lifetime" when Alainna ended up in the hospital for the next four weeks.

Children affected by cancer will get to walk the gold carpet at the premiere Feb. 27 of the documentary Little Golden Stars.

Alainna has some mixed feelings. "I'm really, really excited because it's going to be super fun, but I'm also kind of nervous."
