Livingstone-MacLeod MLA Pat Stier says he's willing to see what happens when it comes to a merger of Alberta's right wing parties.

Stier says he's a past member of the Highwood PC Constituency Association and still has a lot of friends there and looks forward to working with them again.

"Obviously it's a complicated situation and there has to be a lot negotiations taking place.  We look forward to working with our PC comrades here throughout southern Alberta, in fact all of Alberta," he says. "I'm hoping that we can, in the end, put together some sort of a new united conservative situation that will stand up against the NDP and hopefully form government on the next occasion."

He says what matters most is what the rank and file members of the party think about the idea and he'll be accompanying Brian Jean to a town hall meeting this weekend in Lethbridge to find out.

He's always hearing from people about unity so he's got a pretty clear picture of what they want but they want to ensure that that's the way to go.
