Despite delays in vaccine shipments to Canada, local seniors will be receiving their second doses mostly as planned.

The news of these delays came earlier in the month, with the provincial government announcing they'd be delaying further bookings for first doses and emphasizing the administration of second doses.

Westwinds Communities has confirmed that all of their seniors' lodges will receive their second doses as scheduled, with the exception of Sandstone Lodge, which will be delayed by a week.

The Heartland in Okotoks will also be receiving theirs on time in the first week of February, with their first doses having been administered on January 7th, according to Revera.

Though more vaccines are expected to arrive in the province next week, Health Minister Tyler Shandro says the amount is expected to be cut by 78%.

Nearly 100,000 doses have been administered in the province thus far.
