It's the same issue for the M.D. of Foothills every summer... keeping up with the mowing along M.D. roads.

The M.D.'s Agricultural Fieldman, Jeff Porter, says the M.D. has a lot of area to cover, and are working with certain constraints.

"We have about 8000 km of road we have to mow, and that's taking into account each side of the road," he says. "That's a lot of road to cover. Also, we can only start once the grass heads out, because the re-growth is too fast. If we start before then, that would require us to re-mow, thus adding cost to tax payers."

Porter says they're aware of the issues, especially with long grass blocking the view at certain intersection, but need residents to be patient.

"We realize, from residents, that grass conditions are high right now," he says. "We're just asking people to take a little more care and attention when driving, when approaching intersections, that they do reduce their speeds and take a couple of extra looks down each way."

Porter says they're working hard to get the mowing done, but it's going to take some time.

"Right now we're doing our best," he says. "We've had some breakdowns with our equipment, but things are progressing. We'll hopefully be finished mowing in the municipality by the mid-to-end of October."

Porter says while the M.D. does maintain some of the secondary highways in the area, the primary, and most secondary highways are looked after by the province.
