One of the candidates for town council in High River wants to continue to see the town move forward.

Carol MacMillan says she decided to run because she's deeply passionate about the town.

"I have considered it throughout the years, and I think what really made me want to push for it this go-round is a I truly believe in the vision of the town of High River with it striving to be a people first community where we can live , work and play, because that really does resonate very deeply with my own values," MacMillan says.

MacMillan says completing flood mitigation projects are very important for the safety of the community and for confidence in the community.

Attracting new business to the town is another of her goals.

"I think all of the businesses that we currently have deserve a great round of applause for their persistence and their dedication to the community and definitely to add extra business because that, to me, is a very important key about having businesses that can provide living wages for people so that more people can actually, live, work and play in High River," she says. "Because I think that's a big reason why I love High River so much."

She says what excites her about the proposal for the CP lands is it shows progress, and that's the key to improving the town's vitality having engagement with the community, improving on projects and new ideas and developments.
