On a quiet, unassuming morning on Saturday December 15, Santa and a bus full of elves and volunteers from around the Foothills community were out caroling and delivering essential items to families around High River.

Spokesperson for the Magic Of Christmas group, Tami Thompson says, apart from from bringing Christmas cheer, they're hoping to help out their community.

"We're delivering a backpack full of necessities, scarves, toques, mitts, shampoo, conditioners, shaving supplies, sanitary supplies, combs, toothpaste and brushes and some small candy items."

Thompson says the items are collected from donations from several organizations around the Foothills and the merry squad spend the entire day delivering the items to the families who need a little help during the holiday season.

"We take referrals and the referrals are coming from school divisions from around the area, both public and catholic. A couple of teachers have taken it upon themselves to gather supplies and necessities for people less fortunate than us."

The wandering squad of merrymakers have made it a local tradition as the crew comprised of volunteers from High River, Okotoks, Turner Valley, Calgary and all over the Foothills rallied together this year as part of their ongoing tradition.

"We've done it for about 14 years and every house we go to really appreciates the effort."
