Agriculture for Life is looking to showcase farm safety through the use of a new Rural and Farm Safety Mobile Unit.

Ag for Life's Kayley Segboer says  the idea is to be able to take the high tech unit to schools and trade fairs to highlight farm safety.

"This mobile unit will be able to be hands on, interactive, we'll be using touch screens. And it's going to be able to travel across Alberta and teach individuals at different trade shows, fairs and events and get them learning about things like large equipment safety, grain safety and a number of different topics."

Segboer says while the unit will be aimed primarily at those in the farming industry and others who live and work in rural areas, she says it'll also be a great resource for urban residents interested in learning more about agriculture and agricultural safety practices.

She says the $650,000 unit is being built now, and will be ready to go by next September.

Agrium Inc., is providing the funding.
