A multi-million dollar plan to make the CP land in High River look better and improve its use is sitting well with the mayor.

Craig Snodgrass says the parking, green spaces and other proposed amenities, like a skate track and amphitheatre are what the area needs.

"This is exactly why we wanted to purchase that land is because of the value that it holds for this community's future and to see the plans the O2 (Planning and Design) put before us today, this is where the juice starts to get exciting in this town, right after what we've been through with these serious construction projects and now we get to deal with some sexy stuff and put some fun in this community" Snodgrass says.

What the area between 7 Avenue and 12 Avenue could look like

He says there's parking in the plan, which council said it would deal with and a lot of public realm improvements to enhance the downtown and the area that links the river to 12 Avenue.

Snodgrass says the key now is to get council to fund it.

He says it's something the town could take on in phases over the years.
