The Town of Nanton will have to continue with their nomination process.

Nanton CAO Kevin Miller says so far two people will run for Mayor, but not enough people turned in papers for Town Council.

"At this point in time we do have sufficient nominations for the Office of Mayor. So we will have a Mayor's race this year. It will be between Charles Fenton and Jennifer Hendley are the two names submitted."

Hendley is a current Councillor, while Fenton is a former Councillor.

Miller says they need at least six people to step forward to fill all the council seats.

Miller says nominations have been extended to Tuesday, September 19, from 10 a.m. until Noon at the Nanton Town Office.

He says if they still don't have enough they'll do it every day until Monday, September 25, at which point he'd have to call Municipal Affairs Minister Shaye Anderson for advice.

He says at Noon Tuesday if they have more than six people willing to run, there will be an election for Town Council, if only six put their names forward, no election will be necessary as the six will win by acclimation.
