While it hasn't been as bad as other areas, the M.D. of Foothills hasn't gotten away untouched by overland flooding this Spring.

Reeve Larry Spilak says they've had some issues in the southeast portion of the M.D.

"We've had our share of flooding for sure and road damages. Throughout the weekend our staff has had to shut down probably about half a dozen rural gravel roads. We're working on repairing each one of those, and it's going along better than we actually had predicted."

Spilak says M.D. Council have been monitoring the situation closely.

"So, as early as last Friday (April 20), our Council was considering declaring a state of emergency, with all the roads being damaged and things of this nature. But as the weekend progressed through we started seeing a slowing down of the melting, a slowing down of the water build up and hopefully we'll get through this thing without having to go to an emergency."

He says they have crews out 24-hours a day checking on damage and fixing what they can as it comes up.

A storm water collection area just off Centre Street near Lineham Acres in High River is doing it's job as it's filling up with melted snow and keeping it from causing problems.
