An effort is being made to re-establish a Rural Crimewatch program in the High River area.

RCMP Constable Stacey Campbell says they're going to hold a meeting for anyone interested in getting involved.

"It's more of an information session to let people know what Rural Crimewatch does," she says. "We hopefully will be having the President of the High Country Rural Crimewatch Association which covers Turner Valley, Black Diamond and that area, they'll be speaking and answering questions on Rural Crimewatch."

She says it's a matter of keeping an eye on neighbours and keeping up to date on activities and letting others know about what's going on.

Constable Campbell says social media, like facebook, is helping.

"I do follow the Rural Crimewatch southern Alberta network and that basically is what Rural Crimewatch is, they have systems in place where they can fan out stuff that needs to be out in the public that people need to be on the lookout for," she says.

The meeting will be held February 18, at the Blackie Community Hall at 7 p.m..
