Mental Health Awareness Week is May 2 - 6 and the High River Addiction and Mental Health Clinic are holding an open house with free programs available to the public.

Manager of Administration Jill McEwen says it's a chance for them to show people what they offer.

"The point of Mental Health Awareness Week is to do just that, to bring awareness to the community about the services we offer and how to get in contact with us."

She says there will be different workshops offering healthy ways to cope with depression, addictions and other mental illnesses. .

She says they offer a number of services that a lot of people may not be aware of.

"We offer many types of services, we have individual therapy we have groups that we run, we have geriatric services, outreach services, addictions services and psychiatric consultations are available with a referral."

She says that if anyone is dealing with a mental illness or an addiction to call the  intake line to be directed to what program or service would be of most benefit.

She says people need to know there is help available and they are not alone and she says if someone doesn't know where to start to call their Intake Line.

McEwen says the specialists at the Intake Line will ask a series of questions then provide direction to programs and services applicable to their individual need.

"Call our Intake Line and you can let them know the struggles  you're having whether it be addictions, mental health, stress, anxiety and then if it's appropriate they will set you up with an appointment and our services and if not they will let you know about all the services that are available around town."

She says there will be free workshops available throughout the week so people can see what programs and services are offered.
