Big Brothers Big Sisters Okotoks is looking for mentors to join and be a part of their volunteer youth serving organization. They provide one-to one mentorship as well as group mentorship opportunities for children and youth in the community.

Representative with BBBS Laura Padget says the group is hoping to meet the demand for mentors.

"We've seen the need for the program in the community, we have 20 kids on our wait list currently so we're in need of big brothers as well as big sisters, evenly matched we have 10 little sisters and 10 little brothers waiting for a mentor in the community."

Padget says there's only a few requirements involved to be a mentor.

"We look for people who have the time who have the time and ability to spend about 2-5 hours per week with a child. Our hope is that we an have that commitment for at least one year, that provides enough time to develop a strong and committed relationship between the children and their mentors."
