A man who grew up in High River remains missing almost a week after his disappearance was reported to police.

Mike Ully has not been seen or heard from since last Thursday.

His friend Dustin Tremblay says it's out of the ordinary for him not to check in with someone.

"Typically he would stay at a friend's place for two or three days and then make his way back home and it's never been an issue and the whole time I've known him that's the way it's been, ya he goes away to work for a month or a month-and-a-half at a time and then comes home, but he's always there to spend time with you and he always keeps in contact, it's not like him to not be in contact and that's kind of where the alarm was raised," Tremblay says.

He says Ully's brothers called last week to see if Mike was staying with Tremblay and when he said he wasn't they checked his home in Caresland and found Ully's cell phone and knew something wasn't right.

Tremblay says the RCMP and Foothills Search and Rescue have been out searching and he has been out looking himself and says Sunday there were 30 people in his group and there was another 60 to 100 or more besides.

He says the outpouring of support has been great, with texts and e-mails from people he hasn't heard from in years who want to help and a lot of people have stepped up to help with things like vehicles and even child care for searchers.
